CONFERENCE SPEAKERS

 Dr A D Surridge (B Sc, M Sc, Dip E, Ph D, F Inst P, C Phy) 
 With 27 papers in refereed scientific journals, editor of and contributor to 8 books, 69 national and international conference papers, and numerous reports, Dr A D Surridge is well published. He has also written five unpublished novels and is currently writing a sixth and seventh. Since December 2006, Dr Surridge is the Senior Manager of Advanced Fossil Fuel.

 

Dermot Gaffney
Dermot Gaffney is the head of the Indirect Tax practice in South Africa. He leads a team of 32 tax professionals who specialise in the areas of Value Added Tax and Customs & Excise Duties. He has over 29 years experience in the field, in both the public sector and private practice. He formerly headed the Indirect Taxes teams in Ireland and in the North of England & Scotland. Dermot joined KPMG in 1994, after 12 years with the Revenue Commissioners in Dublin.

 

Evelyn Berger
Evelyn Berger is the general manager of Thermon France. Her portfolio for international heat tracing projects includes France, Africa, Spain, Portugal and Israel. She has over 16 years experience in heat tracing and has overseen a variety of successful projects with a major focus on the Petrochemical, Oil & Gas industries.

 

Nhlanhla Gumede
Principal Strategy and Innovation Oil and Gas, Deloitte & Touche. Nhlanhla Gumede joined Deloitte in November 2008 after almost 6 years with the Department of Minerals and Energy. His area focus is oil and gas in particular and energy in general. Before Deloitte, he was deputy director general at the Department of Minerals and Energy, responsible for coal, gas and oil for integrated energy planning.

 

Anton Moldan
Anton Moldan is the environmental adviser to the South African Petroleum Industry Association, an association of the seven major refining and marketing oil companies in South Africa. In this role, he co-ordinates the management of environmental issues related to the oil companies business activities.
